AiVry Rocks The Faces Off of "Live From Studio 5!" Crew

AiVry

AiVry, the power-trio straight out of Minneapolis, stopped in to rock the faces of the “Live From Studio 5!” gang last night, as well as each one of their listeners. The groovin’ trifecta jammed out their newest single, as well as a few old-school tunes from their musical repertoire. The group’s sound seems to blend 90’s alternative rock stylings with a gritty, dirtier edge, alternating between happier, upbeat melodies, and low-down, abrasive freestyle jams. The band consists of Matt McClosky on vocals and bass, Hunter Cohen on guitar, and Derek Pfeifer on drums.

AiVry, having been together for barely a year, formed last summer in 2013, after Matt McCloskey teamed up with Derek and Hunter in August of last year. On May 2nd, they released their self-titled EP, which has received mentions on the Current’s blog and is currently being considered for radio play. The EP was recorded at Above The Bridge Records at Michigan State University, and includes the songs In The Street, Mr. Taylor, and Auburn. A few of the group's influences include Kurt Cobain, Billy Joel, Foo Fighters, John Mayer, Rage Against The Machine, Death Cab For Cutie, and more.
