The Best Pour On Tap Gets Down In Studio 5!

Supplying sick grooves that put your cerebral on cruise control and your priorities in check, Pour was spawned in Buffalo, Minnesota, and now slides into your cranium where its nothing but obliged to take up a permanent residency. A rock-steady drum kit keeps hard-headed time beneath a fury of funk-esque string smacking and a vocalist who knows exactly what he’s got to say. The five-piece spins out a fusion of 70’s afro-jam, classic rock, and at times, even disco and psychedelica. Lead singer Jon Sullivan proclaims his truths with a deceptively calm, yet undeniably in-control melodic style, while bassist Derek Strand, drummer John Berry, and guitarists Jacob Berry and Max Eichorst are given their ample time in the sun, meaning each and every member of this group gets their chance to shine throughout every piece they perform. On top of all that, Pour is also on the verge of releasing a new full-length album.

A few of the band’s stated influences include The Doors, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, James Brown, Bootsy Collins, amongst others. Bottom line: these five dudes will hypnotize you into actually enjoying yourself. Go see them. Now.

Liam Gerard Gets Stone-Cold Serious Smooth In Studio 5!

Presenting a blues-trodden past, downtown stomp-pop sensibilities, and a slicked-back swagger, Liam Gerard has risen as a breath of fresh air in the Twin Cities music scene (and we’re talking like, three Tic-Tacs at the same time fresh), combining throwback elements of key-driven love songs, layerings of instrumental simplicity, and humbly-experimental fretwork. Inspired by a slew of blues boys from back in the day, the Motown grind, and 90’s pop, Liam delivers a Noel Gallagher meets Jason Mraz sound that pleases even the most stubborn fans of melody. Liam delivered tales of love and labor all while strumming his six-string or caressing the keyboard in Studio 5 this week, and even paid homage to one of the man’s earliest blues idols, the late-great Otis Redding. Liam's voice retains a calming thickness to it, too prevalent to ignore, yet delicate enough to avoid being abrasive. Liam was backed in the studio this week by Cole Premo, his happenin’ guitarist, and Anahita, his happenin’ publicist.

Liam has released his first studio work, the EP entitled Your Name (available on Spotify, iTunes, and Google Play), and it currently at work on his first full length release, Belle and Music, which is set for a summer release.

British Invasion In Studio 5!

Having summoned musicians from different corners of the Earth to the humble streets of Minneapolis, vocalist / keyboardist Daniel Fiskum successfully birthed the alternative pop group Fiskum & The British Bluebirds, which is perhaps his most innovative and blatantly kick-ass group to date. Featuring the sick stylings of Bob Phillip on the drum kit, J. Evan LeFreak on bass, and Simon Husbands on the guitar, The British Bluebirds concoct an almost 80’s-like alternative dance energy, with bright, bursting drums, peppy six-strings, and launching synth sounds. Fiskum’s voice bears a Van Morrison-esque bellow, pleasantly invading and dominating the space in which it proclaims. At the end of the day, this group has provided a seriously fresh groove for the Twin Cities music scene. It’s like they say - if you throw enough stuff at the wall, something is going to stick. Fiskum & The British Bluebirds is the stuff that stuck.

Pseudoubt Psychs Out Studio 5

Forget everything you knew about your favorite alternative hip-hop / indie rock band, because Pseudoubt has invaded the Twin Cities music scene with a hypnotically trippy sound guaranteed to lull the hippies into a mellow nirvana and encourage the aggressive type to chill out for ten minutes. Lead vocalist Artifex both belts and raps with impressive syncopation, bringing to mind a similarity to the singing-rap style of Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd. Humming harmoniously beneath Artifex’s tales are Shatter the Primate and Adriatic, both of whom also handle the electronics. Underhill caresses the keyboards, Toivo Hannigan drops a deadly low bass, and finally, Iris commands the skeletal boardwalk of the electric guitar (Underhill, Toivo, and Primate are only part of the live band). Together they weave a solidly repetitious, droning wall of sound, spreading like a gas and penetrating the entire building with pseudo-peppy electric bliss.

Pseudoubt has been around since early 2013, and released their album Greyscale in January the next year. Seeing these dudes live must be made your top priority as soon as possible.
