The last two weeks have been crazy busy on “Live From Studio
Five!” For two consecutive Wednesdays, the gang put on two live shows featuring
six different bands. There was a mix of tragedy and triumph, as the live shows
at the Nomad World Pub were great—but unfortunately, a large segment of the
first night’s performance two weeks ago went unaired due to some insurmountable
technical hiccups.
But Dewglass held down the fort at the studio back on Cedar
Riverside and kept each show rolling along. He performed more than admirably considering the live feed kept cutting out! Meanwhile, at the Nomad, Doug the
Thug was joined by Nicole Jean Rode and Cher Dial, who MC’d each night’s
performances.
Six bands played—six! On Wednesday, April 30, the show
featured Hot Cellars, Breakfast Anytime, and Hot Cellars. A week later on May
7, the show featured the Lost Wheels, the Dirt Road Ramblers, and Bouncer
Fighter. It was a diverse lineup, and hopefully the recordings of those live shows
will make their way to air sometime soon. In the meantime, make sure to check
out the above video of Dirt Road Ramblers, not to mention the mountains of
photos taken at the shows.
Things are back to Studio Five at KFAI tonight, so be sure
to tune in from 10 p.m. to midnight to hear the music of Stacy Lee. And check
back here on the blog to find out how the show went later this week. You never
know what’s going to happen on “Live From Studio Five!” And that’s what makes
it so great.
